Overview
ESPHome is an open-source system that turns ESP32, ESP8266, BK72xx, and RP2040 microcontrollers into powerful, fully-featured smart home devices using simple YAML configuration files — no C++ coding required. Part of the Open Home Foundation, ESPHome seamlessly integrates with Home Assistant and other home automation platforms. It provides over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, supports hundreds of sensors, displays, actuators, and other components, and ensures all devices operate locally without any cloud dependency.
