Icinga
Overview
Icinga is an open-source infrastructure monitoring system that started as a fork of Nagios but has evolved into a powerful, modern solution with a distributed architecture. It is designed to monitor complex IT infrastructures across multiple data centers, providing real-time visibility into the health and performance of servers, networks, applications, and cloud services.
Unlike its predecessor, Icinga offers a modular, API-driven design that integrates seamlessly with Infrastructure as Code workflows. The Icinga Director module enables configuration management via REST API, making it a natural fit for DevOps environments using Ansible, Terraform, or other automation tools. It supports clustering for high availability and can handle thousands of nodes with minimal overhead.
