AGPL-3.0🖥️ Self-hostable
Padloc
Overview
Padloc is a modern, open-source password manager for individuals and teams. Built around end-to-end encryption, your vault is encrypted on your own device before it is ever sent to a server, and you can host that server yourself so your secrets never touch a third party. Client apps are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and the web, alongside a browser extension — all synchronising to the same encrypted vault. The latest release is Padloc 4.3.0.
Key Features
- End-to-end encryption — vault data is encrypted locally with a key derived from your master password before it leaves your device.
- Self-hosted sync server — deploy your own Padloc server to keep full control over where your encrypted data lives.
- Cross-platform clients — dedicated desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux, plus Android, iOS, a web app (PWA) and browser extensions.
- Offline-first — your vault stays fully usable offline and syncs automatically when you reconnect.
- Vault sharing for teams — share individual vaults with trusted users, useful for small teams and families.
- Open and auditable — the whole stack, server included, is licensed under the AGPL-3.0.
Why Use It
Padloc strikes a balance between convenience and privacy: polished native apps on every platform, with the option to keep your encrypted data entirely under your own roof. If you are comfortable self-hosting a single container, you get a modern password manager with no subscription and no telemetry.
