Msty Studio Desktop Free is a privacy-first, local-first AI workspace that runs on your own machine. It gives you a single place to connect the models you already use — local models via Ollama or LM Studio, or online providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google — and to layer on the tools that make them useful: Knowledge Stacks for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over your documents, Personas for custom AI assistants, Turnstiles for workflow automations, and a Toolbox with MCP support. Your chats, models, and data are stored locally, and nothing is sent to a third-party cloud unless you choose to connect to one.

Msty began as a desktop-only AI app and has grown into a web and desktop platform. The free desktop version (Msty Studio Desktop Free) is fully functional and costs nothing to get started, with an optional Aurum subscription unlocking additional features and the web app. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Note that unlike the other tools in this category, Msty is not open source — it is a proprietary application with a genuinely free tier and a strong focus on privacy and local control.
