Agregarr

Agregarr

Agregarr is a self-hosted Plex collections manager. Instead of hand-building smart collections in Plex, you point it at the lists you already follow — a Trakt chart, an IMDb or TMDB list, a Letterboxd list, an MDBList, an AniList or MyAnimeList profile, your own Overseerr requests or your Tautulli viewing statistics — and Agregarr creates the matching Plex collections, keeps them refreshed on a schedule (every 12 hours by default, with per-collection cron overrides) and can push anything missing to Radarr, Sonarr or Overseerr so the title actually turns up in your library. Collections can be ordered independently on the Home/Recommended screens and in the Library tab, restricted to certain days or time periods, and given their own posters or dynamic poster templates. It runs as a Docker container with a web interface on port 7171 and is Plex-only — there is no Jellyfin or Emby support.

Key Features

  • Lists from the services you already use — Trakt, IMDb, TMDB, Letterboxd, MDBList, AniList and MyAnimeList, with ready-made presets for popular lists and support for custom list URLs.
  • Grab missing items — anything in a collection that is not in Plex can be sent to Radarr/Sonarr or turned into an Overseerr request, with filters for release year, season count, list position, genre and origin country.
  • Coming Soon collections — built from monitored Radarr/Sonarr titles or anticipated releases, complete with trailers and poster overlays, plus optional placeholder media so an upcoming title appears in Plex before you have the file.
  • Per-user and request collections — generate a collection per Overseerr user (visible only to that user) or a single collection for all requests.
  • Tautulli statistics — turn “most popular on my server” into a collection that maintains itself.
  • Independent ordering — Home/Recommended and the Library tab each keep their own collection order, and an optional random mode rotates the home screen so returning viewers see something different.
  • Time restrictions — schedule a collection to be active only on particular days or during particular periods.
  • Existing collections and hubs — collections and default hubs you already have in Plex (Recently Added and friends) can be managed from the same list as the generated ones.
  • Poster and overlay templates — dynamic poster templates filled per collection, per library, or your own uploaded artwork.
  • Preview before saving — preview the matching and missing items for a collection, add individual items by hand, or send a title to the global exclusions list.
  • Statistics dashboard — most popular collections (from Tautulli) and recently added missing items in one view.

Why Use Agregarr?

Plex collections can only filter what is already in your library, and keeping them in step with the lists you actually follow means re-clicking through the web UI every time a chart changes. Agregarr makes that a scheduled job: the collection definitions live in Agregarr, the sync runs on a timer, and the gaps get filled automatically through Radarr, Sonarr or Overseerr. Its own documentation draws the comparison with Kometa (formerly Plex Meta Manager): Agregarr is collections-only and driven from a web GUI, while Kometa is YAML-configured and also covers metadata management — so Kometa remains the only option if you need metadata, and Agregarr is the friendlier one if you want collections without editing YAML.

Use Cases

  • Keep a “Trending on Trakt” or “Popular on Netflix” shelf on the Plex home screen that updates itself every day.
  • Turn an Overseerr request history into collections, including a private collection of each user’s own requests.
  • Fill the gaps automatically: any title a list says you should own is grabbed through Radarr/Sonarr or requested through Overseerr.
  • Promote a Coming Soon shelf with trailers for the films and shows you are waiting for.
  • Rotate the home screen layout so the front page keeps changing without manual edits.

Quick Start

services:
  agregarr:
    image: agregarr/agregarr:latest
    container_name: agregarr
    volumes:
      - /path/to/config:/app/config
    ports:
      - 7171:7171
    environment:
      - TZ=Europe/London
    restart: unless-stopped

Then open http://localhost:7171 and sign in with your Plex account. The config volume is required, or your settings will not survive a container restart.

Platform

Docker containers for linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 (Docker Hub agregarr/agregarr and GHCR ghcr.io/agregarr/agregarr), web interface on port 7171, configuration in /app/config. Requires a Plex Media Server; Plex Pass is needed to promote collections to the Home screen. Optional integrations: Radarr/Sonarr (downloads), Overseerr (requests) and Tautulli (statistics).

Project Status

The current stable release is v2.4.2 (17 March 2026), with the newest commits on the develop branch dating from 23 April 2026. Development has been quiet since then — the images and documentation remain available, and community forks carry smaller fixes.
